Coal Harbour Engagement Session

In April I photographed Billy and Kyla’s engagement session in Coal Harbour, Vancouver.

This was my first time meeting Billy and Kyla and they were such an easy going couple. We walked around for an hour and I really enjoyed getting to know the both of them. I think that is one of my favourite parts of an engagement session, getting to know the client and how to reflect their personality in the photos.

During their session, we took advantage of the Cherry blossoms scattered in the area. Cherry blossoms are a very sought after feature in photos but they are only around for a short period of time. I’m so glad I was able to get one engagement session in this year with cherry blossoms. They are so beautiful!

Coal Harbour also has a mix of different backdrop for photos, which I find gives a good variety in the final collection of images. You have the city, North Shore mountains, parks, view of Stanley Park, the ocean and a few other elements available depending on the season.

The only thing I don’t like about shooting in this area is the parking and crowds of people. The day of the engagement session it was overcast and a bit chilly so there wasn’t as many people in the backdrop. I was able to edit out the odd person in each of the photos. Parking is also an aspect of Vancouver I do not like. I also have to give myself an extra 30 minutes just to find parking.

I recently shot Billy and Kyla’s wedding and can’t wait to share some photos. Their wedding was stunning and it was an action packed day. There was photos in Stanley Park, live music, dancing, a tea ceremony and much much more. Stay tuned!

Enjoy the photos!
