Becky and Nav’s Engagement Session at Derby’s Reach

A few weeks ago I photographed Becky and Nav’s Engagement Session at Derby’s Reach in Langley, BC.Derby’s Reach is known for it’s old barn. If you Google, ‘Langley Wedding Photos’, it is one of the first locations that will pop up. Even though this barn is amazing for photos, there are a lot of other great areas for photos.

The river: The sun was setting so I wanted to take advantage of some of the areas around the river. The lighting and colour was amazing! I set up my off camera flash, which really enabled the colour of the sky to stand out in the photos. There is also some nice rock by the river which I really like in photos.

The trees near the barn: I’m also a huge fan of darker shots so I set up my off camera flash in some trees right beside the barn. This allows the subjects to stand out in the photos and still give that edgy contrast in the background.

The fence near the barn: If you are into the rustic look, there are old wood fences near the barn. There are a lot of different poses you can use on fences.

Behind the barn: I didn’t use this location for Becky and Nav’s photos but it is beautiful. Behind the barn, there is a small trail that leads to an open field. The field has long grasses which I love for maternity and family sessions. The only thing to keep in mind is there are small animals that live in the tall grass. I have seen mice and frogs while photographing there is the past.

Becky and Nav where a lot of fun to photograph and I can’t wait to see these two again at their wedding in May. They will be tying the knot at Pitt Meadows Golf Club in Pitt Meadows.

Enjoy
