At the beginning of December, 2015, I had the opportunity to photograph a beautiful and intimate home wedding in Vancouver.
Lynn and Maureen tied the knot in their house with close friends and family watching. As they were exchanging vows, I looked around the room and everyone was smiling. I felt so much love in the air.
One thing I loved about taking wedding photos in their house was how beautiful it was inside. Lynn and Maureen have such a creative and eclectic style. I couldn’t stop staring at all there décor they had carefully arranged on coffee tables, shelves and on the walls. I was a little jealous to be honest.
After the happy couple popped open a bottle of champagne and talked with their guests, we went to Spanish Banks for photos. There was a statue in the park that was special to the couple so it was important to incorporate it into the photos. I was also able to capture images of them next to the beach and in front of downtown Vancouver.
Fall and Winter Weddings
Even though a lot of people don’t book their weddings from November to February, I personally love taking photos during these months. Here are some positive reasons to get married during the Fall and Winter months:
- All of the popular outdoor parks are quiet so I don’t have to spend hours editing people out of the backdrop.
- The lighting is not as bright. There are more cloudy days which mean the lighting is even. If you get a sunny day, you don’t have to wait to 8:00 pm to get those golden hour images.
- The temperature, for the most part, is comfortable.
- During the Fall you have the wonderful colours of falling leaves and in the winter, you may get some gorgeous images in the snow.
Now, with all of the above being said, the chance of there being rain at your wedding during the Fall and Winter Months, is quit high. Just make sure you have umbrella’s and a backup undercover area for photos.
Enjoy the photos.
