Last May I Photographed Iain and Kasey’s Hycroft Wedding in Vancouver.
Hycroct Manor
For those who are unfamiliar with Hycroft, it is an amazing venue to get married at. Hycroft is a ‘magnificent Edwardian mansion located in Shaughnessy.’ A lot of weddings take place year because of its unique design and character.
I really like Hycroft Manor because of its diverse array of locations on site. If you book a wedding there, you don’t have to worry about finding an area for photos in case of rain. The main patio area in under cover and there are lots of beautiful areas within the house that are perfect for taking pictures. The day Iain and Kasey got married it was overcast so I got the opportunity to use both the gardens and various room indoors for photos. As a photographer, I couldn’t of asked for more.
One of my favourite spots to take photos is in the main common area, just outside the patio. There is some amazing furniture and a lot of natural light that comes it. Besides the basement, where the reception took place, the house has tones of large windows. If you are taking photos during the day, you don’t need to worry about off camera flash.
The Couple
Iain and Kasey are from Williams Lake but decided to get married in Vancouver. There were a great couple to photograph and I enjoyed being part of their big day.
The highlight of the wedding was the speeches. There was so much emotion and even I was getting a little teary eyed. I cry at almost every wedding I photograph but have a camera to hide behind, lol.
All the best to the amazing couple and can’t wait to photograph at this location again. It is a gem.
