Around this time last year, I photographed Bo and Amanda’s wedding at Campy Howdy in Belcarra.
When Bo and Amanda first told me that they were having their wedding at Camp Howdy I was very excited. In 2006, I used to work there when it was owned by the YMCA. I was a camp counselor and lived on site all summer. I have some great memories at Camp Howdy: canoeing up the Indian Arm, camping, hiking, signing songs by the camp fire and so much more.
On Amanda and Bo’s big day, it was probably the most rain I have experienced at a wedding. It poured but for some miracle it stopped for 30 min while we were taking bridal portraits at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody. We were lucky but had umbrella’s just in case the rain decided to come back. There is also a beautiful outdoor amphitheater at Rocky Point Park that makes for a great location for photos when it is raining. This location has saved me during a couple of weddings.
In the main reception hall, I was used to seeing kids banging on the tables, singing and making jokes, but this time around, it was very different. All the tables were eloquently set with candles, plants and stones. Wine was being poured and smores were being cooked under candles in a fireplace. Amazing!
On top of the festivities, my Assistant, Erin from Erin Sweet Photography helped me outĀ for the day. It was very exciting considering we only get to see each other maybe once a year. Erin and I went to photography school and have kept in close contact ever since. If you are looking for a photographer in Edmonton, she is your gal.
Enjoy the pics and all the best to Amanda and Bo.
