La Perla Ballroom Wedding

This past March, I photographed Nick and Laura’s wedding at La Perla Ballroom in New Westminster.

My day started out in New Westminster at Laura’s parents’ apartment. I took photos of Laura getting all dolled up for her big day. When I walked into the apartment, I was amazed to see all the photos I took of the couple during their engagement session. The room was also decorated with lot of balloons and tables were set with food and gifts.

The ceremony took place at St Clare’s Parish in Coquitlam. This church was very large with lots of natural light and amazing architecture.

After the ceremony we proceeded to Rocky Point Park in Port Moody for pictures. This park is a beautiful location but can get really busy, especially in the summer when the weather is nice. Given that it was a March wedding, parking was easier to find and there wasn’t a lot of people walking around.

At Rocky Point Park there is a smaller dock next to the main pier. This is my favourite place to take pictures. There is a beautiful view of the Burrard Inlet and Old Orchard Park. If there is a little bit of wind, it works wonders for any flowing veil shots as well.

Right before we headed to La Perla Ballroom for the reception, the bridal party made a pit stop at Parkside Brewery for a much needed drink. I’m not a beer drinker but I find breweries have such as amazing vibe to them. Everyone always seems to be having a great time.

The wedding reception took place a La Perla Ballroom in New Westminster which is right at the Quay. Upon arrival, there was a beautiful sunset which was the perfect photo opportunity.

The reception was filled with fun times, laughs and some amazing dancing by the bride and groom. One of my favourite moments of the evening is when they asked couples who were married for a certain amount of years to stay on the dance floor. Gradually they made there way to couples who were married for 50-60 years. It defiantly was a special moment and made me a little teary.

In all, it was an amazing wedding and I can’t wait for all the other weddings I have booked this year.
