Baby Abrielle was amazing. She let me pose and position in almost every newborn position. Adorable!

One element that has changed in my newborn photography in my use of lighting. I do have a large window in part of my studio, which can be great for lighting; however, with the dreary Vancouver weather, sometimes the lighting in not as bright as I want it to be. Yes, I could crank up my ISO; however, grain is something I do not like in my photographs. I now use a studio light with an umbrella. I love the soft effect it creates. The umbrella creates the same soft shadows a large window would create. Light is everything with newborn photography and it is so important to get it right. The right lighting creates a mood, emotion and texture to a photograph that is essential to me.

Another addition to my studio is new fabric backdrops. So excited! I have been searching everywhere the the perfect fabric. I found a wonderful backdrop at Spool of Thread in Vancouver. I could spend hour in this store!
