Last summer I had the opportunity to photograph Jamie’s amazing proposal to Carly in Port Moody.
Jaime’s proposal was disguised as a family photo shoot. I started the session by taking group and couple photos before finally focusing on Jaime and Carly. I began taking photos of them standing right beside each other as Jamie said sweet nothings into Carly’s ear. Carly was all ready to get her photo taken but Jamie continued to talk to her. After a minute, she turned towards Jamie and the ring was out. Carly was very surprised!
Jamie’s family was behind me watching the whole proposal unfold. Everyone had smile ear to ear and I was fighting back the tears. I was very happy to have my camera in front of my face so my tearful eyes were hidden. It was such a special moment and I was so happy to capture it.
After the champagne was popped and everyone celebrated, I took Jaime and Carly out so I could take more photos of them. He walk around Old Orchard Hall and took in the beauty of the area. The sun was setting and the tide was out, so I took advantage of the old decaying structures along the Burrard Inlet. The Burrard Inlet was home to a few sawmills that burnt down in the 1940’s and 50’s. The remnants of it gives a really interesting background for photos. Depending on where the tide is during the day, the old pieces of wood and rock look like a ship sunk in mud. Very cool!
Some of my favourite images of the proposal/engagement session were the silhouette photos, which was taken on top of a old rock structure. The sun was at a perfect angle and the warm summer tones were amazing. I could not of asked for a better day to take photos.
Enjoy the images.
