Walk to Cure Diabetes….

FILED IN: Uncategorized

Today, my family and I participated in The Walk to Cure Type 1 Diabetes.  There were lots of people there, old and young, with Juvinelle Diabetes. One person that I met, in particular, was BC’s NDP leader,  Adrian Dix.  He has had Type 1 diabetes since he was 28 years of age. We talked about Insulin Pumps and both agreed that more funding needs to be given to  adults living with this disease.

In BC, if you are under the age of 18, your pump is funded by the government. In Saskatchewan and Newfoundland the province pays for patients under the age of 25. Ontario is the only province in Canada where there is no age restriction.

Hopefully something will change so I can get a new pump soon without going broke!

I had fun at the walk today and hope to get more people out next year!
