Andraea, my youngest sister, graduated from the Nursing Program at the University of the Fraser Valley in June.
Instead of the conventional grad photos, I thought it would be fun to do some at the Tulip Festival, when it was open back in April. I dressed Andraea in few outfits I have collected over the years for my photography business. I also used my 2009 graduation cap for some of the photos.
The one thing I love about taking photos at the Abbotsford Tulip Festival is that they have after hours for photographers. During the day, at the Tulip Festival, it is incredible busy. Trying to get a good photo, without several people in the background, is difficult. Plus, the lighting is always the best in the evening so it really works out.
I went to the tulip festival at the beginning and end of April for photo sessions. I would suggest that if would want lots of flowers in your shots, go at the beginning of the month. There are a lot more rows of flowers when the Tulip Festival first opens. At the end of April, lots of the rows of flowers are cut and the field looks sparse.
The second portion of photos are from Andraea’s graduation at UFV, which took place at the beginning of June. The ceremony was held at the Abbotsford Centre, which is very nice. When I graduated from UFV in 2009, this building did not exist. My ceremony took place at the UFV gymnasium which defiantly did not have the same feeling as the large convention centre.
Enjoy the photos and congrats to all the graduates of 2017.
