This past November, I photographed a lovely wedding on Granville Island.
I started to take pics at the Granville Island Hotel, then the ceremony and reception took place at False Creek Community Centre.
This will be one wedding I will always remember due to the events that took place before and after the wedding. The night before R and J’s wedding, my daughter got ill with some stomach bug. I was up most of the night holding a bucket next to her bedside. Let’s just say I had lots of coffee before starting to photograph the getting ready photos, lol.
After the wedding I went home and started to feel ill myself. I caught whatever my daughter had and it was one of the worst 24 bugs I have ever had. The following night I had to be taken to hospital due to severe dehydration. NOT FUN!
I’m very thankful that I did not get ill during the wedding. I have never missed a wedding since starting my business in 2012 and hope that I never will. I guess that is one thing about November through February weddings, there is more illness going around.
Even though the experience before and after this wedding was not a good one, the actual wedding was very fun. I was prepared with my off camera flash, as in November, there is not a lot of light. The off camera flash with the rain is something I always love. It gives images to remember!
Granville Island is probably one of the best locations to get married in the late fall and winter months. There is so many nooks, buildings and the bridge with undercover locations. Very useful for all those rainy days we get here in Vancouver.
Overall, it was a great photography experience and can’t wait to go back.
Enjoy.
